Part II – Preparing Our Project
In Today’s Class at Middlesex University Duabi, our team took another big step in getting our project off the ground. We dove deeper into planning and started breaking down the work into clear, manageable tasks. We revisited our overall project outline for T-Rex 2.0, discussed the objectives, and brainstormed strategies to tackle any challenges ahead.
During the meeting, each of us shared our ideas, which helped us see how our unique skills could mesh together to bring the project to life. We sorted out roles and set a realistic timeline with key milestones to ensure that every part of the project, whether it’s cercuit board design or coding
Parts Testing
We tested the servo motors and ultra sonic sensors to ensure everything is compatible and ready for our project.
Our testing session came handy as we found one of the servo motor were not responsive. The game is latency sensitive, so it is very important to use quality parts only. Special thanks to our professor for providing us with replacement motors.
Code Testing
We tested the code to ensure everything was functioning properly. Our system uses two ultrasonic sensors to measure the distance between the wall and both the head and leg. When the measured distance is short, it indicates that the person is stationary in the game. However, when the person jumps/ducks, the increased distance triggers the Arduino logic to activate a servo motor that simulates a keyboard button press. Everything worked perfectly, and we concluded Week 4 on a high note.
This team session in week four’s second class, not only boosted our confidence but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and planning. With a clear roadmap now in place, we’re excited to start building prototypes and refining our ideas based on what we learn.
I’m really looking forward to the next steps and seeing our plans evolve into a functional project.
